a game I quite like applies an awkward encoding scheme to its save files

by the developer's own admission, this a deterrent against cheating the leaderboards

...it took me less than an hour to crack it wide open.

and there were basically giant neon signs leading me the whole way.

(no, I'm not gonna say what game, nor will I publish the technical details, nor do I have any intention to cheat the leaderboards — I was legitimately just curious about how the save data is structured)

hm. i think i did this a few weeks ago too. hard to work out how to like, see if you can confirm if it was the same thing without releasing any details, so like. do the bytes 37 a4 30 ec 42 ef 3a 05 09 10 10 df 30 33 33 b3 ring a bell?
