How many rays are you casting per pixel? It's are you casting the rays from the lights sources to the camera screen?
I'm doing this in Shadertoy at the moment so the ray count is just "however long I let it render for before taking the screenshot" (i don't know)
Like most raytracers, rays start at the camera and trace towards light sources; in this case they start at the camera sensor and trace through the lens glass first
