Tdov's usually ring pretty hollow for me these days, and this one should too (given this week), BUT I have some exciting tdov favors to ask of you (at the end of this post) <3.
I used to be an officer in GEO 3550, the graduate labor union at the University of Michigan (the largest employer in the state). While I was there we were able to use our union's strength to massively expand trans health coverage for ALL employees of the university (not just ourselves). Some of the things we couldn't win are currently on GEO's strike platform (along with a bunch of other cool shit like abolition and other radical proposals) AND GEO is currently on strike.
GEO is one of the rare organizations I've worked with that stands in solidarity with trans folks, lets trans folks lead in all aspects of the union, and actually effectively changes things for the better for trans people (all without being an organization about transness).
Here are some favors I have to ask of you
- Boost this post.
- Visit GEO and their social media to learn more about them, their history, and the current strike.
- Donate to their strike fund for tdov (tell 'em vidhya sent you)
- Tell all your cool friends with money to also help GEO lmao
