and 1) oh god do some updates 2) fix / if necessary change graphics stack stuff so I can play TF2 and record it with OBS.

I wanted it to be set up to stream on par with my windows install, and furthermore I wanted to push myself to stream games that could be played on linux (or capture carded on it) on linux instead of windows. I didn't actually finish doing this, primarily because I got hung up on recreating my particular VoiceMeeter setup with Jack (a program I fundamentally do not understand). but I think this is a shame and I want to push myself to try again, ignoring that advanced audio setup if I have to.

in reply to @lunemercove's post:

particularly stuck with me that my desktop used to have two partitions on one drive, and then I eventually gave up and formatted the linux partition for windows' use.

fast forward some upgrades, and I have two m.2 drives each with their own OS, and I feel close to just doing the first thing again. but I can honestly live without the extra space (they're big m.2s), and I really sincerely like linux. and only feel stronger about that the more things big tech companies (including Microsoft) embrace shit LLM shit.

I run a webserver, a fileserver, a linux laptop, and work professionally in linux. I think I can run a reasonable desktop linux instance. and not even all the time, just Sometimes. don't gotta quit destiny.
