changing some visual settings (i.e. whether the items in the middle section are left or centre justified, the background color of the right pane besides where you've explicitly defined it), and then removing those settings entirely from your config will leave them applied, if you reload the config without restarting tmux. you might then think you've restored to default behavior, and then be confused when the same config file on a different platform behaves differently.
