I think the geometry in luné's whiskers has finally degraded enough that I should just do them from scratch. and maybe with fewer polygons (if I can get good results doing that) so that this is less likely to happen in future /easier to fix if it does.
been tracking down the non-quad faces on the model, so I can squash some warnings I get on export. I don't think it actually affects anything (the exporter just turns them to tris along with all the quads), but it bugs me. and I also feel like I understand the geometry better / get better results sticking to quads.
didn't post a picture last night because I didn't quite feel done, and also I had to pass out suddenly (slept v well, feeling great this morning). but I redid luné's feet to reduce how much it felt like her resting position was on her tiptoes. and I think I do like this better. will give those another pass, currently still working on various parts of her outfit (and her whiskers as mentioned)
