and unlike the old case, doesn't need some of that space for airflow (though it can be configured that way)

needs a separate non-m.2 boot drive, but why not two? zfs mirror, for kicks. still need to copy the live server's boot drive, but waiting for new PSU to bother.

also installing a disk drive in a computer for the first time in a long time. really getting use out of 8 more SATA data connections and a PSU that can do at least a dozen.

was maybe a little less careful with the SAS-> SATA cables than I should have been, but I like the end result

if you haven't installed your PSU yet, you can pop off the PSU cover and pull hard drive cages out that way.

that might even be one SATA power connection fewer than I need (2x SSD, 1x disc, 9x ZFS pool, 1x spare data, 1x really cool Fractal fan control board). but my PSU is modular and I think I can add them, and I also have like a half dozen molex -> sata power adapters. just, fully fucking loaded case.

which was the plan. enough for a big leap in what I have in the fileserver in terms of storage, with the possibility of getting one more extension in future if I need.
