so the lesson I'm learning is trees are of the devil and I should just never permit my dwarves to be outside for any reason, because if anyone's out there it's hell trying to get them burrowed and the bridge up in time.
other things I need to internalize for next fortress (this one isn't gone yet this is just a bad sign)
- IMMEDIATELY add new migrants to the "please be inside" burrow
- actually learn how to train soldiers
- think further ahead when digging the initial fortress and more aggressively expand space.
since the goblins are now sealed in but also sealed away from me, I'm going to attempt to set up a system to flood them and see how that goes. I have some water in my cistern to try with.
writing off all the dwarves in these tunnels as too stupid to live, going to try to set up a floodway that's going to minimum require one dwarf sacrifice, and then going to flood as soon as spring comes.
an elven caravan is here, the dragon if it's still here is going to fuck them up. I refuse to let them have the glory of saving me so I'm finishing the goblin flood plan before opening back up for trade.
the good news is the goblins are finally dead and I can repeat this again later. the bad news is the dragon is still out there and killed some new migrants (and probably the elf caravan I wasn't watching)
new siege happened and the dragon is killing the shit out of them too. I think it's effectively on my side at this point, as long as I'm okay with never receiving a new caravan or migrant wave ever again.
begging the mountainhomes and other civilizations to stop feeding caravans to the dragon.
