about how it unintentionally* captures an era of New York City, and NYC subcultures specifically, that just doesn't exist anymore. Serpico's not playing in the same space (at least not yet), but being in relatively the same era is making me think of that again. I also think of Paris is Burning (which I need to watch properly, I dug through bonus features but didn't actually sit and watch the thing). I also think of Times Square Red, Times Square Blue. I should read that.

very frequently feel I'm underread and understudied in queer history. it didn't used to have the same relevance, and I don't have a history in those spaces like some people I know who were gay before they were trans. and on top of that, what I do know is very SF/LA focused due to proximity and what reference points I was able to get.

I would like to know more generally and to know more about other places.
