I had a similar situation with lazy cops/courthouse clerks, letters sent to the wrong place, etc.
I reached out to a traffic lawyer near the courthouse I was told to go to, paid him to handle it, and it all just evaporated. Wasn't cheap ($500) but was worth the stress resolution. I would advise reaching out to lawyers near the courthouse specializing in this issue and seeing what they can do.
We had to use rent money for bail and we're in Low Income Housing…
100% get a lawyer to handle this. If you need mutual aid, hmu. I'm really sorry you're dealing with this absurd BS. :(
We're going to need it almost certainly if we can't get a public defender.
Most states don't give you public defenders for traffic court. Check the state you live in.
