I had a craving for fried chicken but I took out tofu to defrost... and normally I do not consider tofu to be a meat replacement. If you think of tofu this way you will be disappointed, it's it's own thing, with it's own texture, and it's own cooking methods, and I can see how if you were going vegetarian or vegan for health reasons trying to use tofu to fill that gap sorta makes sense in that context, but generally it's it's own food.
However, I had an idea, which was to cut some firm tofu into strips, boil it in some chicken broth (+ salt water) and I'm going to bread it with my fried chicken spice mix. I, truthfully, am not sure how this is going to come out. But I would like to know. Especially with the price of food going crazy lately, tofu remains 2.50 a pack.
OK so: I would never in a million years mistake this for chicken, however, it's good and I would make it again. Absolutely fucks w/ some ranch to dip in.
