On the last day of March, 45,000 theme park workers--approximately half of Walt Disney World's employees--represented by the Services Trades Council Union (STCU) won a substantial victory when they ratified a contract with Walt Disney World. That contract guaranteed immediate raises of $3/hr this year, and raises of between $5.50 and $8.60/hr by the end of the contract for workers. For many workers, these raises are even retroactive–meaning they will receive back pay. Workers will also receive 8 weeks of paid parental leave under the new contract.

More Perfect Union has a good video on the plight of these workers which drove them to reject Disney's original offer, and hold out for better:

Disney had originally offered a lower minimum wage of $17/hr, which was rejected in February by workers as insufficient (not least because a significant number of Disney workers already make $17/hr or more, and that is insufficient). Union members also balked at a more gradual gradual raise to $20/hr over several years as similarly poor. Despite Disney reportedly "refus[ing] to add even one cent to its wage proposal" and significantly worsening its second offer, workers held out, rallied, and eventually brought the corporation to the compromise you see here.

UNITE HERE has the full details on these raises by job classification, which are as follows:

For workers in job classifications that currently earn the minimum of $15, minimum hourly rates will increase to $16 effective 10/1/2022, with full back pay to all eligible union workers, then increase again to $17 as of today’s ratification vote and $18 this December. Their total raise will be $5.50 in 5 years, with the first $3 coming by December 2023.
