This might be my "more flexibility for the end user, even if it's mildly confusing!!" brain talking here, but a social media platform that's perfect for me would have extremely granular post visibility controls?
Say, Google+'s "you can have β circles", Facebook's "you can specifically exclude certain friends from this friends only post", Mastodon's "followers only" option, and per-post control over search engine indexing flags.
