it's fun how really trivial plot points end up causing me the most work. i decided the protagonists should get their cool spaceship on the ground so now i have to figure out:
- just how dangerous is the drive plume? is it actually safe to launch from the ground? can i narratively justify a launch facility that won't melt?
- how do they reach orbit without setting off every missile warning system?
i guess since i decided to do a story with a rocket in it i shouldn't be surprised that i have to literally do rocket science
