one of the odd knock on effects of cohost's architecture is a weird disjoint between what I'm compelled to do in the tags and what then I actually do. cause on tumblr, right, I was an inveterate tag-rambler--it was like being able to add a series of random endnotes that were wholly optional to the post content as a whole and therefore not worth putting in the main body, but could still be expressed without the fuss of a whole ass separate post
here though I feel like the ease of finding those tag rambles in the auto suggest screen means that I'm less inclined to do add them and muddy up, essentially, a shared resource. I think the whole "entirety of The Great Gatsby" stunt was meant as a criticism of the tag system but it actually mostly just did a great job of reinforcing for me a sense of community best behavior. it feels good to not do the tragedy of the commons!
but it also feels like a parallel to the broader pressure I feel posting here to not fill shared space with more essentially junk information. that might just be derived from a broader aversion though to making More Posts, coming off of twitter and tumblr which objectively had Far Too Many Posts. I'm less interested in Being Seen in general, but I wonder if that's leading to essentially a tendency to self-censor.
anyway I do miss rambling in the tags.
