a thing i miss on this website is notifications for stuff you've shared. i get why it's not there because it creates weird Sharing Incentives by feeding you dopamine for other people's work. but i do still sometimes see posts where im like "i like this, and i like that this person is the one who shared it, and i want them to know i also like the thing they enjoyed" and i also like being on the other end of that and being like "i knew that person would enjoy that and im glad they did". it puts a small warmth in my heart. it is a way to give a knowing nod to a mutual in passing without having to instigate a full-on Conversation about it

i know it's probably against cohost's Ethos to implement such a thing but it would still be nice for me. maybe if it only showed those interactions if they're from mutuals or something, idunno

between being unable to like comments and being unable to see shares, the ways in wish you can nonverbally give someone a friendly nod are pretty lacking

You must log in to comment.

not being able to tell someone you appreciate a comment without a comment of your own feels bad, yeah... i think for most purposes i'd be fine with only the creator of a post being able to Like comments on it, in a theoretical implementation to prevent Numbers Fixation?
