i occasionally go to the liberry and every single time i find breathtaking periodicals. just absolutely immaculate examples of marketing targeted at other members of heavy industry that you wouldn't think would have the exact same tone as normal consumer marketing, but they do.

One of the few things I will miss about Twitter ads is its wild attempts to figure out ad targeting for me, leading to ads like the above but for rowboat-mounted stream water quality monitoring equipment (real, and I really hope I still have the screenshot) and new factory conveyer rollers and the latest in Deere accessories for tilling your fields. Really incredible stuff.

I kinda miss magazine ads in general, the older ones. There'd be a big eyecatching graphic or illustration but you'd still get a nice few paragraphs of writing about the thing. Because, that's why you opened up the magazine, to read.
