- The first half of the book takes place in space and involves the US government accusing charlie and wonka of being foreign spies and/or aliens, before actual aliens eat all of america's most famous astronauts due to the US president being portrayed as a childlike buffoon
- The back half of the book functions as a reversal of the original book's narrative, wherein charlie's old bedridden grandparents prove that devouring so much chocolate you die grimm-fairytale style isn't exclusive to children by ODing on wonka candy that de-ages you until one of them goes into the negatives and has to be rescued from nonexistence
"hideously expensive sci-fi epic that relentlessly mocks adults and the US government and has nothing bad to say about children" is such a violent reversal from the first book it's no wonder no one wants to touch it
