one of the more frustrating things about The Way I Live is that i often come across gobs of Empirical Data when researching something, but it takes so much time to write it down and organize it that it ends up getting lost. I've spent months reading about and buying laptops with instant-on OSes but all the model numbers are floating around my ebay search history. finally got myself to sit down and at least write down the ones i personally own. webpage hours

turns out the reason nobody just writes this shit down is that it's hard

I like Notion for things exactly like this (we have been using it internally at MAGFest since forever, and I'm getting our museum geared up on it) but it is Big Suck that it is commercial, very much paid-for (with discounts or exceptions for like, nonprofits), and has no hope of being open-source or self-hostable.

i thought this was what llm stuff was supposed to do, grokking what semantics alone could not, to provide semantically consistent data for dragging and dropping and lasso selecting around our 3d cyberdesks with enhanced attribute algorithmic physics node field things, right?

clearly this is not what they have been made available for and there's not a single application that doesn't actually make perfectly accessible data worse, but .. when can rounding up dissociated text be easy!
