The storms are wreaking havoc on the coast of California, with rubbish everywhere. I found a Dell computer bag with rocks, critters and two discs. The discs were cracked—and extremely thin. One of the discs was from 2008. It makes me wonder how long the bag had been out at sea.

Good question, and interesting point! Either there were two discs and one circular transparent piece of plastic meant for packaging DVD-Rs, CD-Rs etc. or there are two discs and one of the discs separated from itself.

Put the disc in a computer and check if there's a text file saying "stuck on desert island, send help"
