this video also contains a rant about how the "better than takeout" food youtube phenomenon seems to be targeting chinese (and to a lesser extent other asian types of) cooking specifically, you simply don't see "bettter than takeout" videos focused on pasta really and she's right its pretty ridiculous.
honestly as a reasonably competent home chef, all my food is "better than takeout" to me specifically because there is this psychological thing where food you cooked yourself will ALWAYS taste better. If i want restaurant food i'll go to a fucking restaurant or pull up doordash. i'm not foolish enough to think i know better than a first or second generation chinese immigrant keeping the family business afloat with beef lo mein and eggrolls.
