the most recent nuclear close call occurred in 1995 at the Andøya rocket range. It involved the launch of a Black Brant scientific rocket for atmospheric research, which was misinterpreted as a possible SLBM.
Because the rocket was a Black Brant model, I think we should refer to this as the Horrible Goose incident.
