love that little toilet flush noise (so appropriate) that teams plays to let you know you missed yet another call that it didn't bother alerting you to because it requires a degree from NASA to get teams to ring on your primary sound device

i promise you every single person working on teams at Microsoft is on a 1600x900 corp-issued laptop and has never once tested on a machine with more than one audio device

do you think the fall from "testing individual apps on win95 and writing patches to fix free-after-use bugs in other peoples software to ensure a smooth user experience" to "not testing on any system that isn't on a gigabit LAN, or anything with hardware you wouldn't find in a $300 chromebook" was far enough to reach terminal velocity, or can they go faster, fuck up more, embarrass themselves harder

well they recently embedded machine learning specialists and their ai ethics team out to teams distributed across the entire company, and then disbanded what was left of the central ai ethics team at the exact same time as they were telling every single team to incorporate AI into products. so i'm sure that will turn out well

i have been made aware of a fairly large retail corp using teams for job interviews and supplying candidates with instructions that 1) only work on mobile 2) only work once 3) fail to work if you're signed in to a microsoft account of any description. quality software made by people who care; only one of those is true.
