I updated my name in PayPal two years ago after legally changing my name through the Washington court system, and periodically, for no apparent reason, I have been receiving PayPal emails deadnaming me. Up until this point, PayPal has been useless at resolving this, resorting to "oh that wasn't us, that's phishing email" and just being like "follow the name change process" (I already did that, which is how I ended up here).
How do I make PayPal stop deadnaming me for no reason?
PayPal has a secret Preferred Name field that you can't see or change, that they sometimes override your account name with just to make your day worse. They don't show it to you, of course, that would be too progressive to let people actually set their name. To get it updated, you have to call and get them to fix it.
