I am trying to break away from the model of "high functioning" vs "low functioning" (in my case, as it relate to the autistic spectrum), it's just different people with different needs. It can be hard to let go and easy to imagine that my problem are fake, but it help me have not only more compassion for myself, but more compassion for other people, who have different needs than me but can still be struggling.
