has FPL ever Not sucked the big one?
I'm ten months in on their exhausting bullshit and inability to actually resolve issues they create.
Quick rundown, I got new neighbors last October, and as they were setting up service, mistakenly their account was linked to my address, not theirs. I immediately got an email and a phone call asking if this was in error, to which I replied "yes."
They still closed the account. What only mildly complicates this, is that I was still paying into my deceased roommate's account, because I had been gradually transitioning services over as I had spare energy, and power was the last of those I hadn't done.
No big deal, they said in a phone call, once they reinstated the account, they'd just mail me a name change form, and if I filled that out and sent over a copy of the death certificate with it, they'd sort everythign out.
They never reinstated the account, and I never got the letter. Six months of their bullshit, of fruitless "yep, this is an error on our part, we'll resolve it" *doesn't resolve it* later, a phone agent tells me "oh, no, we can't do that, you'll have to set up a new account." They didn't even waive the deposit, so I was out 200 bucks then and there from the car accident recovery gofundme.
And bills still kept showing up in my mailbox, addressed to my neighbors, for my usage between October and April.
And bills didn't show up for me. At all. For two months. Even after setting up my account, they still didn't know how to send me a fucking power bill, so another phone call later and I get charged a whole lump sum for the usage between April and... i think June, because July's bill has come in as normal.
And bills were still showing up for my neighbors for Oct-April. Every time, they'd call about it, and get told "we'll sort that out."
It never gets sorted out. In fact, they actually billed my neighbors' active account the other day for it. The closest it ever got to "sorted out" was that they waived a good chunk of the balance.
But at this point, even though they were only charged for 100 of it, they shouldn't have been charged for any of it. I shouldn't have been on the hook for a new account deposit. At this point, even if technically I should've been on the hook for my power usage between october and april, they've been so inept and unable to fix their shit, that the neighbors are driving up to the nearest actual FPL office they can find to deal with this in person.
I've printed them out a paper with my account details (current and former) and some information they wouldn't otherwise have, in case that helps them, because god.
