delari, also known as magicmountain or drsingh on goonstation, was a coder and an admin who was not only incredibly funny, but immensely talented
it's rare for coders on projects like this to dig into old code and refactor it and fix it up nice. even me, it's always more exciting to point to a new thing you added while ignoring cracks in the foundation.
if you ever saw how laggy SS13 was before 2017, the stuff he did was incredible. explosions that'd take 5 minutes to happen were instant
but that was something he excelled at.
he did a lot of other good features and was working with us on coolstation- we were proud to have him. personally, i feel like he was and is the heart of goonstation and coolstation. between him and popecrunch i still feel like there's plenty of inspiration to keep going- even if there was some serious trauma from how some separations went down. i'm still angry about that but i try not to air it out too much.
but it's hard. it's impossible to believe it's only been a year, but it also feels like forever without him. we couldn't do any fuckin' work for a long, long time because it just crushed us.

we're hanging in, and better now than we had been for a while. i think it was almost in "give up" territory.
it's still incredibly raw but we're doing what we can and trying to keep going
