i really don't care for or follow melee at all, but

this is a heartwarming story for the ages. one guy rising through the ranks of one of the most fiercely competitive, jank, brutal, wackily-balanced games of all time, playing as a character universally regarded as unviable, to become inarguably one of the best players in the world. all motivated by a simple and pure desire to play as yoshi, because yoshi is cool and he likes yoshi and he wants to prove to the world how awesome yoshi is. this is the one truly pure, noble soul that competitive gaming has ever seen

in reply to @mira-drgn's post:

i have seen enough melee in the past to know how miserable and dour many players often look after a loss or even sometimes after a win. so watching the infectious smile and joy of this guy who, win or lose, is just happy to be there doing what he loves is a real breath of fresh air. we should all aspire to be loving life as much as amsa

i also don't pay much attention to melee, but the knowledge that there is essentially 1 (one) yoshi player who does it for the love of yoshi never fails to make me feel inspired.

because amsa is right, yoshi IS cool, yoshi IS awesome,
