buy this one. typical pepper grinders are hell on your wrists and dispense very slowly. you can give yourself RSI before you get enough pepper out to taste. there are geared grinders that dispense very quickly but they cost ten thousand dollars and are only available in massdrops or some shit.

these fuckers are easy to fill, quick as hell, grind good imo, and are cheap as dirt.

edit: oxo does seem like a store brand but as far as i can tell they're independent, so you can get these online. amazon (sorry) has em for fifteen bucks

They make some absolute game-changing staples of kitchen design... and also a bunch of stuff that's not much better than any other option despite costing a lot more because of the brand.

But man... you get a good OXO thing and you just feel like your life had a quality of life upgrade. I love their measuring cups so much.

Some of their stuff is great and some (a bunch of the "good grips" line) is exactly the same as kitchen-aid except it's got some kind of TPE all over the grip which feels kind of neat but will turn sticky and have to be thrown away in a matter of months.

Oxo makes the only decent kitchen tools it seems.

Sidenote but my dad is lucky as hell, he found an absolutely antique pepper grinder at a thrift store for nothing, it looks like it's made entirely of brass, it's just this long metal tube with a hinged handle at one end that unfolds to like a foot long, making the amount of leverage force needed fairly trivial, and that fucker produces the finest grain I've ever seen in my life. Like, practically just a fine dust. No big chunks to speak of, if you shake it around while grinding a cloud of fine pepper dust will begin to form. It's amazing. We used to have real tools.

Pepper Ball pepper grinder.
I used to have the Pepper Ball, it was honestly pretty great. Works one-handed, and has adjustable coarse/fine options. They redesigned it more recently (it's in the pic), not sure if it's any better or worse but I figure I might buy myself one in the future, they're pretty cheap.

Yeah the supposed story for OXO stuff is that the original designer was making kitchen implements for his wife who had trouble doing stuff without pain so even though they're a fairly large brand these days they stick to design philosophies of big soft grips and less motion required. Plus they're usually not very expensive for decent enough quality!

America's Test Kitchen is all over OXO stuff, despite the kinda amazon fake brand name they are in fact pretty legit.

Kinda wish I knew about the big handle boy here, we've got some good-but-not-quite-that-much-leverage ones.... which might not be OXO actually.
