Other people have commented on this much more politely than me, but I really really hate "cw: fat", and the way people apply it to artwork of characters with everyday bodies the kind you see on everyday people, and not, like, garfield-bursting-out-of-a-crumbling-house style fantasy fetish art. The most charitable interpretations I can come up with are:

  1. The artist doesn't understand the difference between tags and content warnings, in mechanics or connotation
  2. The artist has been browbeaten into it by people simplifying the whole topic into "tag your shit or you're a bad person"
  3. The artist has fallen prey to the atmosphere of rampant anti-kink sentiment where any content that anyone could conceivably fetishize gets treated the same as x-rated penetration videos

But like, regardless of what the artist's motivations, or whose "fault" it really is, "cw fat" still has the effect of prioritizing people's desire not to see fat people over fat people's desire to have their bodies shown without hedging or apology.
