This is The Mighty Oak, my neighborhood corner store/café, and if you live in Vancouver and its environs you probably have a store like this, too! The city is running a survey right now until the end of next month fielding thoughts from residents about supporting these and building new ones--specifically small local shops that act as small groceries, bakeries, and delis.

The one in my neighborhood is maybe my favorite thing about living around here. There's nothing I would love more than seeing more places like this in the city--small grocery/supply stores that serve the local community and provide a public space for residents to meet and stay in.

As a fellow Vancouver resident, please read this. Also, here is a very good explainer on things which includes the place she features here.

Man they really could have worded some of this stuff clearer or my ESL is just kicking in hardcore because this made no sense to me. I did not know if they meant reduce the distance like make them closer or reduce the distance like "they're too close to the sidewalk"
