(Okay so before you jump up my butt about this being, essentially, a children's edu-tainment toy, please bear in mind I grew up a 'parentified' autistic and didn't really get a 'proper' childhood.)
So my parents got me this rather unusual little birthday gift, though I say little when it comes in two boardgame-sized boxes, plus an additional smaller box besides. I strongly suspect it was my very trans and slightly autistic stepmother's idea, as I seem to remember her mentioning it at least once in the past, and this seems extremely her jam.
One of the things that surprised me though is that, among this kit's many lessons, was instructions for dual power-source and shunt resistance circuits, which kind of blew my mind a little bit. The reason is, I wasn't taught multi-source or shunt resistance, and I took a collegiate-level electrical trade program.
Oh, and there was one other surprise as well in the manual. See, the lessons are framed in a narrative about a clockmaker's daughter (that's her face centermost on the box cover there) who had to move to a new country after her parents' shop is burned to the ground following the ascension of a new emperor.
...
Ya'll, I was not prepared for a Russian-Jewish Diaspora allegory in my children's science toy!
The battery module has an overcurrent breaker (e.g. a centripetal clutch that disengages at high speed) <3
