This is sort of a joke, but sort of not. Like, I don't willingly do things that I don't enjoy to some degree or in some form, and that absolutely includes consuming media that is fucked up.
Two points:
- Almost everything is fucked up in some ways, and anything we enjoy we enjoy in spite of that
- A lot of things are fucked in interesting ways, and it's fun to unpack them!
Also, coming to understand how and why something is a hot fucking mess is a journey, and even if something is so bad that you decide to pull the ripcord, that often doesn't happen in the first few minutes of your engagement with it.
