is there any situation when someone pretending to be queer is an actual real life problem? all the ones I can think of are people doing something that would be equally shitty if they didn't pretend to be queer, i.e. TERF "political lesbians," but... whatever, it's not like openly-straight or genuinely-gay TERFs are any better.

Yeah my own interpretation is that every person is their own complicated unknowable world, and that they should be judged on their behaviors, not on "faking queer identity"
