seattle has been having a spell of warm weather in the otherwise-cool autumn, a phenomenon which i first heard referred to as "indian summer", but that's a term i feel uneasy about using, so i was looking at the wikipedia page for it, to see what other names there are.
probably the most straightforward one is "little summer" or "little summer of [month]". the irish name is pretty cute too- "fómhar beag na ngéanna" (little autumn of the geese).
but the word for it i will be unable to extricate from my brain for all remaining time is, ahem
In Turkey, it is called pastırma yazı, meaning "pastrami summer," since the month of November was considered to be the best time to make pastırma (the meat that, though slightly different, pastrami originated from).[20]
