they/them/moo where "moo" stands in for "you" or where it's funny, like "how are moo today, Lupi?" or "dancing with mooself"

hey there! about 10% of you should have the new following view now -- click the "following" button in the main menu, the same place as the old one -- as well as the ability to set the following view as your default home page in your user settings. we'll be keeping an eye on performance and incoming bug reports and using that to figure out when we'll open it up to everyone, but we're hoping that it'll be by the end of the week.

thanks for using cohost, and we hope you enjoy the new following view!

How easy would it be to implement a "beta opt-in" for users?
I was just wishing I had the new view too, and realized it might be handy to have a dedicated group of users who get these features instead of a random 10%.

While I can definitely see a future where we allow people to opt in for certain betas:

  • we don’t tend to use them a lot
  • we primarily do small rollouts for performance reasons, meaning at a certain point, we would also have to slow roll the launch to beta users
  • sometimes it’s good to get people involved that aren’t huge power users of the site
  • we don’t tend to take a long time to do these rollouts, I promise!!

as someone who really WANTS to feel more into cohost and is also just pretty burnt out by the traditional timeline style of socmed, i can't wait to get this view and think it'll really get me more into following folks here :-)

it's a constant frustration of mine that super frequent posters drown out quieter ones and i've been dying for sites to finally address a way to see everything better so thank u guys

It's coming so soon! I had assumed the first mention was some kind of "I had that cool idea I'm goofing around with and probably won't see the light", not a real prototyle that woukld see the light the same month :eggbug-smile-hearts:

I don't have access to it to check, but I think one of the sorting methods offered is "most recently followed"? If you change it to that, it should work like the old view, but with a preview of each person's last post
