they/them/moo where "moo" stands in for "you" or where it's funny, like "how are moo today, Lupi?" or "dancing with mooself"

@moot said this more succinctly in discord but damn if there isn't a supreme contrast between

"someone had to slip me the GoG installer for UT2004 for game night 'cause epic doesn't sell it anymore" yesterday,

and "huge free update for the original goldsrc half-life featuring major fixes for a lot of code rot, the official inclusion of content like Uplink and other addon packs that were only ever available on CDs shipped with graphics cards, in addition to making the game free to obtain for a week(end)" today.

i had to Obtain™ unreal tournament because epic turned off the master servers (which the game doesn't even need) and used that to pull all the UT games from sale, and here's valve with a major patch to the original half-life being given out for free. two different ways to treat flagship franchises i guess.

in reply to @lupi's post:

Valve sees Half-Life as their legacy property, it's like the shining moment all their other stuff is built on and can directly tract it's identity back to in some way.

Epic sees Unreal as their embarrassing middle-school phase that distracts from their new identity as a brand pipeline.

I know someone at valve and mentioned the line in the new half-life patch notes about how NPCs will no longer interrupt their plot-critical dialogue with their greeting line and jokingly said "revert this"

their response was basically "no, we already had this fight internally" and I could almost cry at how great that is

man ain't that a mood though, charismatic bug vs duty to fix, and boy isn't that a hard line to tread in my limited experience as a kerbal playtester and voice in the community
