there is nothing intrinsically wrong with spreadsheets; the problem is that most of the time you are looking at spreadsheets you are doing work, and also not the kind of work you like doing

allow me to program stuff in excel with a node editor or whatever, fuck the current incomprehensible system

mintexists
@mintexists

more things should have node editors. As far as i can tell theres not even many good libraries for making node editors, which makes me sad because they are amazing and more of them should exist!!

When i took Data Structures in College, we were allowed to use whatever language we wanted as long as we could demonstrate the code worked.

According to the professor, one year, someone did this in excel and managed to make linked lists, binary trees, hash maps, and all sorts of shit. I dare not question if this was real, for the sake of my own sanity.

Yea node editors arent perfect but they are wonderful and smooth to use

i wonder if some sorta node editor that ran on a system that like. sent a particle of data down the paths where it moved one step every tick and had loops and stuff would work

iirc blender is now working on simulation nodes which deffo do support loops! still have to check it out though but I've seen folks do fluid simulations in Substance Designer (2d heightmap editor) so I wouldn't be surprised if there's already wizardry being done
