the Artemis 2 srbs were doing by train today, and I only got noticed of this about 30 minutes before it would have hit the last that level crossing where one could see it without any sort of trespassing. now, that level crossing is 6 miles from my house, which takes about 30 minutes. I missed it by 5 minutes, but I did make some startlingly good speed on a dirt road with pavement tires. seems like I got lucky that it hasn't rained too much or too little, so the pavement if you can call that was just the right amount of packed down that I wasn't constantly fishtailing.

now I've got three more miles back home, $13 less in my wallet ( I bought the OSIRIS-REx stamps at the post office ), and I had to buy a drink at the gas station, cuz I didn't pack a water or anything and I was suffering after 8 MI in the Autumn sun.

this time someone actually picked up at the school, and gave me the number of the correct person to call at the district records department

i may be a bit too late, some records are destroyed after 5 years, but they're gonna give it a look and see if they can turn up stuff. they're sending me a form i gotta fill out before they can start, so i'm gonna get to work on that as soon as it shows up in my inbox.
