assuming we're on the same page i didn't grow up there and never went to the library, it was just the closest place with diners where me and my friends could hang out once at least one person in the friend group could drive. i am glad the municipal king shelf served you well though!

I don't know how universal this is, but Midwestern small town libraries are havens. All the coolest people work or volunteer there, and they'll help you with everything from finding a new manga recommendation to help you with government paperwork. They are one of the few bastions left standing against the tyrannical right wing city/county governments that preside over them.
