Hey it’s me, DrifterDane, voted “Nicest Heel in the Midwest” alongside “The Only Dizzy to Lose to the Concept of Flight”.
RESSHOUMANIA was a fucking blast as expected, and I’m really glad I didn’t get blasted on travel this year so I could actually enjoy it. Since I actually won the travel matchup I got to experience an extremely fun weekend overall, which included a lot of mashing with a lot of friends I hadn’t seen for a while which was fantastic.
I’m very happy with how mine and Lanline’s showmatch went overall. Watching back the match a lot of the interactions went as I expected, I did get a bit aggro in more cases than I wanted to but it worked out so things were alright. I’m glad the Espada FT1 finale went well spectator-wise too, the trailer he did was so fucking sick that when I got back to the hotel I made sure to rewatch it so I could hear everything clearly.
But mostly, I was excited to play games all weekend and I think I (mostly) achieved this goal! I got to play a lot of familiar faces, and then a handful of new people too which I was excited about! I’m sure I could try to list everyone that I played over this weekend but I know I’d miss about half the folks I mashed with.
But, let’s cut to the chase here: The real reason I usually write these blog posts is to talk about where I’m at with the quality of my games at the moment. I had a lot of thoughts from this weekend of gaming, as there was no tournament to really focus on so it was nice to just play and think about games after. I think after talking with folks, the ones that I had to think the hardest about their advice were Bread and WhyHaveIDoneThis.
So I wanted to try a new format with a post-event write-up so I'm gonna with something I haven’t really done before: Putting together a positive note alongside every negative one so I can attempt to track progress. Will it be successful?? (Probably not but I’m trying)
getting to meet dane was one of the highlights of my weekend and i'm glad i asked him for games but also this mans is too nice to be a villain
