Since you've done your fair share of disassembly, are there any tells that some code you're about to see is seriously messed up?
any time you see TSX (transfer stack pointer to register x) you're in for some serious stack-reading shit
but god, for actual tells? stuff like
JSR JumpDoThing ; more code ... JumpDoThing: JMP DoThing
there's not really any good reason to do this. especially when it's in the same bank. if you can jump to a sub, you could just jump to that sub directly... it's usually a sign i'm looking at really old code.
or my other favorite:
LDA #0 STA SomeVar1 LDA #0 STA SomeVar2 LDA #0 ...
a is already 0, bud, it ain't goin anywhere
