in reply to @clip's post:

i thought i was doing pretty well when i was playing on console but now that i'm on pc with access to custom maps i've been humbled lmao.

i guess playing in no fail mode is an option but honestly that kinda takes the fun out of it for me. i want stakes, but i'd love it if they were reasonable sdlkjfhg

yeah it's frustrating that a lot of the maps I want to play are exclusively ex+. instead I've been working my way through some of the "best of" playlists, slowly improving and working my way up through higher NPS tracks. here are some: https://beatsaver.com/playlists/3966 https://bsaber.com/maps-for-new-players/ https://beatsaver.com/playlists/4137 https://beatsaver.com/playlists/4138 https://beatsaver.com/playlists/4139 https://beatsaver.com/playlists/11584 https://beatsaver.com/playlists/6769

This is the curse of all Rhythm games. The top 1% of players are the loudest and the ones with the skills to make charts, and all they want is more and more difficult. Meanwhile the players not in the top 1% find nothing new that they can play and move on.

yeah for sure, although I think it's especially egregious with beat saber where a lot of the time the thing I need to improve is how quickly I can physically move my arms vs just hand-eye coordination lol

I'm still trying but it's slower and a bit more frustrating for me to learn. still a good workout though.
