checked out that Another Code demo tonight... it was too short so i pulled out my trace memory ds cartridge and poked around a little, remembering how there was more than one christmas eve i spent visiting home staying up way too late laying on the couch and watching the snow fall while playing CING games on the DS.

i only went through Trace Memory once back in the day and my recollection is that i had a very incomplete experience, not spending much time exploring and having worse reading comprehension/attention span than i do now. so i don't have the same feelings for Another Code as I would a Hotel Dusk or a Last Window. but being back in that style of adventure game got me feeling that same old kind of way. i miss CING a lot at the time, it really crushed me when they went under.

it seems like information about who is actually on the team for this Another Code remake/compilation is a bit hard to come by right now, as the demo has no credits of any kind. i was shocked to even learn this game was being remade, but since Nintendo published a ton of CING's latter games anyway, i don't want to get any hopes up that they were able to "get the band back together" so to speak. but here's hoping that team is seeing something from this. i won't hold my breath for any Kyle Hyde remakes (I'd feel pretty strongly if they did away with the sketchy napkin scribble style of the original anyway) but i'm happy to get to exist in this space again in this exact moment. if only there was snow falling.
