one thing i loathe about streaming is getting, in response to communicating a simple boundary or telling someone the effect of their actions, getting either dead silence. the second i stop being a sort of funny voice in the computer, and am instead a human with needs -- and the second i dare to express harm someone might've done -- i become a tab to close and ignore. if someone i've hung out with multiple times a week for years can't hang when i tell them to stop treating me bad, then nothing on twitch they engage in could be called "community." i am just in your computer, and apologizing is free!

in reply to @lys's post:

something it has noticed on twitch, and elsewhere, is that people invoke community precisely when someone is trying to set boundaries or ask to be treated better, in order to defuse and deflect criticism, when the responsibility of being in a community necessitates dealing with and growing from criticism and respecting boundaries. by invoking it, or dodging responsibility, they demonstrate that if it is a community, its not a good one.
wasnt fully here tonight so not sure what happened but it hopes ppl get it together soon. ❤️
