i had a thing set up where twitch chat could call a novelty phone, in the following manner: twitch redeem -> sammi -> cronjob -> shell script -> festival tts -> SIP DEVICE -> novelty phone. this had not been working for months for no discernible reason, but the culprit was definitely the SIP DEVICE or the phone. i hate sip devices. they sip my life out. (they're voip tools and they make no sense). anyway i unplugged the sip device and plugged it back in again and it worked. now i have two phones with a third in the mail. i don't need phones.
