Some vintage "LinuxFox" web buttons made from the original art by Al Mackey by his brother Ed Mackey. I haven't seen these around, so I'm posting them. That second one with the broken glass Linux text is epic. Dated circa 96 - 98 - can you believe furries are that old? they are all gifs because the common understanding of the time was that a 16 (or whatever pallet size) color indexed gif was smaller than any other image format, there were a lot of editors for gifs, they could do pixel-perfect saturated artwork unlike low quality jpgs which made everything mushy and washed out
so a lot of the internet was made of non-animated gifs made with just a handful of bold colors
people would probably by annoyed at how slow the full sized LinuxFox images loaded, with a top of the line 56K modem taking at least 4 seconds per image, partially because the gifs are a gratuitous 256 colors! 😱
