been thinking lately about Social Media.
i already kinda slowed my usage of twitter after captain apartheid bought it, but i fully just uninstalled the app and left my accounts dormant a little while ago. what i've noticed is that the time i spent on twitter is not being replaced with time spent on other platforms (bsky, cohost, masto). it seems, honestly, like i've been using other platforms even less since ditching twitter; like i was using them as a coping mechanism or a palate cleanser or something.
that being said there's also been a noticeable uptick in bullshit lately. bsky's had some extremely twitter-brained users lately, so i guess its "speedrun becoming twitter" run is already at the "some of your friends are deleting their accounts in order to save their mental health" stage, and masto's weird feudalism bullshit ramped up to 11 again (i am Not getting into that).
i will say it is very funny that jack dorsey deleted his account. good job on that. i support bullying venture capital ghouls who think it's cool that they look like they've been fired from 40 separate hipster breweries per week for the last six months.
cohost is nice at least. thank you cohost for being the most okay website.
