...Shut up! I do what I want!
I like the idea of cleave. You pay a cost, and carve parts of the text away to get a different result, and in this case, a different card. The name wouldn't leave my head while I was thinking about the prompt, and I decided that cleave was my way of making it work.
If you pay the normal cost, you get (Don't) Fear the Reaper, which has an ETB, but that's it. It just sits there afterward, doing nothing. Pay the cleave cost, and you get Fear the Reaper, which is a constant menace and intimidate to all your creatures from then on.
Now the wording is wonky, I know, but it's the only way I could see to make the effect I wanted to happen work with the way Magic cards are written. Saying something gains and has a keyword is redundant, but it wouldn't have made sense if I said that creatures have a keyword until end of turn, but not that they got it in the first place. You don't write 'have' when you do an ETB, but you do on an anthem. So, it just had to be that way.
Art was a bugger to find though. Eventually found this ominous piece, which fitted what I wanted very well.
