I finished The Dispossessed last night! So fucking good. Both of the books I’ve read by Le Guin (the other being The Left Hand of Darkess) have been excellent.

I will say though, my reading journey with The Dispossessed was a weird one. I started it awhile ago and was super into it, but then I got to a very triggering scene (if you’ve read it, you probably know the one) and had to stop reading it. I didn’t pick it up again for a few months after that. About a week ago, I felt ready to finish the book, and I’m glad I did! The rest of it was great!

So yeah, would recommend, but with a huge content warning for SA.

I wish that scene wasn't in the book; I wish I understood why that scene is in the book, but I am also not ursula le guin. But! Beyond that scene, I always found the core philosophical message of Dispossessed particularly moving.

If I can recommend a third novel to go alongside the two you've read, it would far and away be The Lathe of Heaven, which is set on an alternate Earth rather than in her more far-flung sci-fi or fantasy settings. I think it is easily an equal to Left Hand and Dispossessed. Major CW there is for drug use and gaslighting, but thankfully no SA.
